FAQ

Questions Albuquerque Metro Families Ask

We hear these questions every week. If yours is not here, call us. We would rather spend a few minutes on the phone than leave you guessing.

Which areas around Albuquerque does Ativo Home Care serve?

Our core service area is Albuquerque's West Side and West Mesa, anchored by Ativo Senior Living of Albuquerque on Quaker Heights Place NW. Active neighborhoods include Ladera Heights, Los Volcanes, Taylor Ranch, Petroglyph, Volcano Cliffs, Cottonwood, Paradise Hills, Ventana Ranch, and Mirehaven, plus the Del Webb at Mirehaven active-adult community. Just north, we also serve Rio Rancho and the village of Corrales. We are adding more Sandoval and Valencia County communities as we grow, and those are available on request from our nearest hub.

How much does in-home care cost in the Albuquerque area?

In-home care in New Mexico runs about $30 per hour based on the 2025 CareScout Cost of Care Survey. At 20 hours per week that works out to roughly $2,600 per month, compared with a New Mexico median of about $5,950 per month for assisted living and about $9,125 per month for a semi-private nursing home room. Ativo uses transparent flat hourly pricing with no hidden assessment fees and helps families file long-term care insurance claims.

Where is Ativo based on the West Side?

Our Albuquerque market is anchored by Ativo Senior Living of Albuquerque at 4500 Quaker Heights Place NW, a community offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care that opened on the West Mesa with views of the Sandia Mountains. That anchor gives our home care caregivers a local base, direct clinical relationships, and continuity of care that most home care agencies in the metro cannot match.

Do you serve Rio Rancho and the rest of Sandoval County?

Yes. Rio Rancho is our most important hub outside Albuquerque proper and sits about 15 to 25 minutes north of the West Side. We serve Rio Rancho, Corrales, and Bernalillo as active service areas, and we coordinate care in Placitas and Algodones on request. Rio Rancho families are served in coordination with Presbyterian Rust Medical Center and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center.

Which hospitals do you coordinate with in the Albuquerque metro?

On the West Side we most often coordinate with Lovelace Westside Hospital on Golf Course Road NW and Presbyterian Rust Medical Center on Unser Boulevard in Rio Rancho. For higher-acuity and trauma care, the region relies on UNM Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in New Mexico, and Presbyterian Hospital near downtown. We work directly with hospital case managers on transition-home care after a discharge.
